An Ill-usion !

Most of us have fantasies to travel in time like in Spielberg movies and dream about violating the fundamental law of nature by oscillating to and fro in fourth dimension. We always wish to overcome that power which confines us to stay only in present but neither in future nor in past. Technological advancements might give us another version of Jurassic Park in 3D but can they bring back those real-time footage of Mesozoic era? Scientific developments might further delay our death but can they reveal us the birth of life? What if we can see our ancestors solving our unanswered questions of evolution? What if we get to shoot the world before the invention of photography? Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seat belts and relax! Here we land on the timeless planet with jobless people who studied quantum physics a bit seriously!

For a while let’s admire the real stars not on the silver screen but on the screen high above the clear night-sky. If you have never tried counting them as kids or locate your favorite constellations you've missed some life past then. Well, as soon as we grew few inches after reciting our favorite rhyme of the twinkling little stars, we have realized that those tiny diamonds in the sky are extremely large to imagine and are hanging in a far away place beyond the horizons and zeniths.  The only reason for them to appear up there, the very identity for those shiny masses and in fact the sole cause for them to be our topic is that brilliant five letter particle(or wave) called l-i-g-h-t. All we know about the luminosity of a star as a geeky chemical reaction that produces light and those rays keep on travelling till they fall on our retina. As a matter of fact anything that shines reflects some light to remain visible. For example, every one of us reflects light though with different amounts of brightness (No I’m no racist). One interesting fact out of this entire story is that light keeps on travelling infinitely large distances forever, which in turn means that, far away objects like stars might have been black holes ages ago.

Imagine the light reflected by an arbitrary extinct species of yester year. It must have already traveled zillions of light years and must be still in the unending celestial navigation being dampened after too many Doppler effects searching for its destination i.e. some random alien checking out through a telescope up there might be lucky to see a sleuth of koala bears making love or a flock of archaeopteryx fighting over prey. All we need to do would be recording that and transmitting back into our storage devices. Although it surprisingly sounds simple, one should notice the advanced rocket science behind this and most importantly the involvement of extra terrestrials. After the amendment in the federal law (Title 14, Section 1211) which forbids the citizens to have any contact of extraterrestrials, ET-Exposure has been the buzz word during the previous decade. This has now given a wider scope for the space-man to brag a bit more than the big bang. Meanwhile the recent neutrino experiment at CERN disproved the famous theory of relativity by claiming light as another particle (or wave) that can be chased after all. RIP Einstein. So if not the tide, at least the time waits.

Friends, Readers and Dreamers; lend me your eyes; I come to fill them with vision, and not to bury the dreams. Every dream has been our friend, faithful and just to us but people say we’re ambitious. Bear with me. None has lost any reason. Let’s not leave the past dead. Rewind the clocks and erase your history. Live every moment and refuse to grow. Trace back the sand prints. Strive to even win back the minutes you've lost while reading me. Throw some life at your subconscious. Stop your worries for the future. Time seems infinite both ways.

Humanity is our caste

The practice of caste system in India is supposed to be eradicated by now according to the Indian Constitution when framed in 1950. But it has been successfully dividing us from the past six decades into 200 odd castes according to the present day government records.

Let us first look at diffrent perceptions of 'caste' in modern India!

Politicians: For India to develop we need to uplift the lower 'castes'... Positive discrimination of depressed 'castes' help them stand on par with the so called higher 'castes'... Reservations for scheduled 'castes' and backward 'castes'.. blah blah

Religions: 'Caste' is an imaginary division based on the work of a person in ancient India. (it sucks because there's no guarantee that we are gonna do the same job like our dads) Its in our culture so just follow! .. they are dumb so are we..

Youth: I lost my college seat in reservation quota.. f**k 'castes'.. I scored low in the entrance test but still.. My 'caste' is low too :) .. we are in love but our people are against inter'caste' marriages.. damn!! Some minister is gonna recommend my project because he is of my 'caste'.. cool!!

What's going on?!:

I am not here to talk about the untochability problems or fight against the discriminations shown to some section of people somwhere. In modern India, untouchability exists at a very very very very low extent.

New tensions are created because of the positive discrimination policies. The high caste communities feel discriminated by the government policy to reserve positions for the Backward Classes. In many cases a large number of high caste members compete for a few places reserved for them. While the Backward Classes members do not have to compete at all because of the large number of reserved places for them compared to the candidates. Sometimes in order to fill the quota, candidates from the lower classes are accepted even though they are not suitable. Sometimes some reserved positions remain unmanned because there were few candidates from the lower classes causing more tension between the castes. Between the lower castes there are also tensions over reservation.

But these were implemented with a good intention, right?! But then..

1.With all this positive discrimination policy, most of the communities who were low in the caste hierarchy remain low in the social order even today. Rich gets richer poor gets poorer :P

2.The political system which perpetuated the continuance of the caste system and succeeded in creating vote banks on the strength of which rulers are elected .. ;)

3.No child is being discriminated or favoured on that caste basis.Thats true but as soon as it turns into an adult, caste echoes in every nook and crany in the form of qoutas and reservations. :S

This delivery mechanism for helping the underprivileged and oppressed sections is so faulty that the number keeps growing despite billions and billions are spent for that cause. Ultimately the day has arrived for stopping this division of people into lower and higher castes. May be the society should now be categorised into 'havs' and 'hav nots' without any official names as such. People legally below poverty line can always seek government's help that way and the government would also be in a position to judge the deserving people and help them as caste would no more affect its power.

But i know that these are possible only on my fantasy island :(

There should be nothing like 'caste' for the future generations that throws them either to the top or bottom of the society just because of their birth in some clan which is totally not in their hands. I dont think that should be a part of anybody's identity. Government may not bring these ideal conditions due to various practical reasons. Atleast we can unofficially eradicate that word from our lives by trying to accept everyone equally. We need not go out and integrate the entire society but can stop those thoughts of differentiation from coming out of our minds. Lets think globally and build a broad mind. I urge you to continue your thinking please. Do we really need someone else to solve this problem?
